What are NLP, Stress Management, EFT and CBT?

I often use the following techniques (or a combination of them) alongside hypnotherapy to ensure you receive the most effective treatment. Below are summaries of what each involves, but please feel free to ask me for further explanations and how they might apply to your own situation.

 

NLP (Neuro-linguisitc programming)

Increasingly popular and widely recognised for its efficacy (including in medical circles), NLP is based on the principle that the interaction between your mind, body and language can be reframed to help you change your perceptions and behaviours towards the outside world.

In a nutshell, it does this by using a ‘model’ of success or excellence in your own behaviour so that you can reproduce this in other less successful areas of your life in order to achieve change. There are a number of innovative and highly effective NLP techniques which can be used as appropriate by the experienced therapist.

NLP is used to overcome a very wide range of concerns, including confidence, depression, addiction, phobias, stage fright (public speaking) and performance enhancement (including sports, interviews, exams, sexual etc).

 

Stress Management

A life without stress is impossible – and probably not even desirable. Stress drives us and can actually be a great motivator. But it’s how you manage your everyday stress which is important. Chronic stress can lead to all kinds of serious health problems, from heart attacks and strokes to migraines, asthma, allergies, back pain, digestive problems and skin conditions.

Managing stress and utilising stress reduction techniques is vital in helping you cope with stress and even work with it to achieve what you want in life. I will teach you a range of stress management and reduction techniques that could not only make a world of difference to the quality of your life, but could also ensure you’re still around to enjoy it!

 

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

Essentially EFT is based on the principle that the underlying cause of negative emotions is an imbalance in the body’s energy system. (Acupuncture has similar principles, although usually more related to the physical).

By tapping on the body’s energy meridians (as used in Chinese medicine) while thinking of a negative emotion, changes can be brought about in the body’s energy field in order to rebalance it. When the energy imbalance is restored, the negative emotions are cured.

EFT is very appropriate to combat cravings (including smoking) and stress triggers, as well as to combat negative emotions such as lack of confidence, personal fears and concerns.

 

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a way of helping you to change the way you think and behave to help improve your state of mind, attitudes and behaviours towards certain things.

CBT is very effective in helping you to focus on immediate problems and difficulties as opposed to the causes of your distress or anything rooted in your past. It helps you to identify any irrational or unhelpful thoughts, assumptions and beliefs that create negative and debilitating emotions and therefore enables you to reject or overcome them.

CBT has been found to be particularly effective with conditions such as anxiety, depression, phobias, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder and more.
